Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our team at Wheaten Flour Mill. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of industrial equipment and building systems to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient plant operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance tasks as assigned.
2. Install, maintain, and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and data systems and components.
3. Conduct fault finding, diagnosis, and repair of electrical installations and equipment.
4. Carry out inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance in line with departmental maintenance programs.
5. Provide 24/7 standby or on-call support on a shift basis to respond to electrical faults.
6. Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, servicing, and testing work undertaken.
7. Assist the Plant Maintenance Manager and building maintenance teams with electrical aspects of installation, refurbishment, and maintenance works.
8. Provide technical advice and recommendations to management where required.
9. Work independently or collaboratively to complete repair and maintenance tasks efficiently.
REQUIREMENTS
1. High School certificate or equivalent.
2. Electrical/Electrician HV or LV qualification or equivalent certification.
3. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a modern industrial facility.
4. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role within the Grain Milling industry.
5. Experience in implementation and maintenance of HACCP:2000 & AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 systems.
6. Strong mechanical aptitude and solid mathematical skills.
7. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
8. Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
9. Skilled in using hand tools and making operational equipment adjustments.
10. Computer literate (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).
11. Effective communication skills with team members, customers, and visitors.
12. Experience participating in food safety audits.
13. Ability to stand, stoop, bend, climb, and kneel as required.
14. Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
15. Willingness to work extended shifts and weekends when necessary.
16. Ability to wear required PPE at all times.
17. Forklift driving ability required; heavy vehicle license is an advantage.
