Job Description
A reputable logistics company based in Tema is seeking a diligent, analytical, and detail-oriented Accounts Officer to support its finance and accounting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reconciliations and reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for all financial transactions.
2. Prepare and post invoices, receipts, payments, journals and other accounting entries into the accounting system.
3. Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer payments to support timely debt collection.
4. Process supplier invoices, maintain accounts payable records and support timely payment of approved obligations.
5. Prepare regular bank, cash, customer and supplier reconciliations.
6. Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports, schedules and budget monitoring reports.
7. Monitor and account for operational expenses, including fuel, vehicle maintenance, transport costs, operational advances and other logistics-related expenditure.
8. Verify supporting documents for payments and ensure all financial transactions are properly authorized and documented.
9. Support statutory and regulatory financial obligations, including applicable taxes, SSNIT payments and audit requirements.
10. Maintain proper financial records, ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures, and provide financial support to operations and management as required.
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably within a logistics, transport, freight, distribution or related organization.
3. Professional accounting qualification or part qualification such as ICA Ghana, ACCA or CIMA will be an advantage.
4. Experience using accounting software will be an advantage.
5. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
6. Good knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable management.
7. Good reconciliation and financial reporting skills.
8. Ability to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.
9. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment.
