Job Description
An award-winning microfinance institution in Accra Central is seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Credit Officer to manage the full credit lifecycle, from client sourcing and appraisal to disbursement, monitoring, and recovery. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining portfolio quality, minimizing credit risk, and supporting the institution’s financial sustainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Identify and recruit eligible clients within assigned catchment areas.
2. Conduct credit analysis, including background checks and business assessments.
3. Prepare and submit credit appraisal reports with recommendations.
4. Ensure proper loan documentation and compliance with internal policies.
5. Facilitate timely loan disbursement and educate clients on loan terms.
6. Monitor loan utilization and repayment performance.
7. Proactively manage delinquent accounts and implement recovery strategies.
8. Maintain accurate client records and portfolio reports.
9. Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal credit policies.
REQUIREMENTS
1. HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in credit or microfinance operations.
3. Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment and loan recovery processes.
4. Good analytical and decision-making skills.
5. Ability to work in the field and meet performance targets.
6. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
