Job Description
We are seeking a Flour Mill Laboratory Technician to join our team at Wheaten Flour Mill. The technician will perform wheat and flour analytical tests, maintain laboratory operations, and ensure accuracy and reliability in all analyses. This is a permanent position for skilled or semi-skilled candidates with experience in the Grain Milling industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform wheat and flour analytical tests following established procedures for testing, data collection, and reporting.
2. Track, receive, log, and store samples appropriately for analyses or storage.
3. Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspaces.
4. Document and track laboratory supplies, cooler inventory, and consumables.
5. Assist with visiting groups and tours, including demonstrations.
6. Support team members and management in achieving lab and production goals.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technician or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a modern industrial facility.
3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the Grain Milling industry. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
5. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accurate record keeping.
6. Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency and precision.
7. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
8. Knowledge of food safety audits and quality management systems.
9. Strong work ethic with attention to detail and quality focus.
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
11. Supervisory or team-building experience with the ability to engage and influence colleagues.
12. Mechanical aptitude and strong math skills.
13. Effective communication with customers, visitors, and team members.
14. Occasional standing, stooping, bending, climbing, and kneeling.
15. Ability to wear required PPE.
16. Willingness to work extended shifts and weekends as needed.
