Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Officer to assess the creditworthiness of clients, manage credit risk, and ensure timely collections. The ideal candidate will evaluate loan and credit applications, monitor accounts receivable, and contribute to the organization’s financial stability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assess and evaluate credit applications and financial statements of clients
2. Conduct credit risk analysis to determine repayment capacity and credit limits
3. Approve or recommend credit facilities in line with company policy
4. Monitor client accounts to ensure timely payment and minimize defaults
5. Follow up on overdue accounts and implement recovery procedures
6. Maintain accurate records of credit transactions and client interactions
7. Prepare regular credit reports for management review
8. identify potential financial risks and provide mitigation strategies
9. Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth credit operations
10. Stay updated on market conditions and industry trends affecting credit risk
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
2. Professional certification (ACCA, or Credit Management certification) is an advantage
3. Proven experience as a Credit Officer or in a similar finance role (2 years preferred)
4. Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, financial analysis, and lending practices
5. Proficiency in accounting/finance software and MS Office (especially Excel)
6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills High attention to detail, integrity, and confidentiality
7. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
8. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
